Happy Tuesday and welcome to this month’s catch up blog post. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the art I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also likely share some of the little joys of life from home and the comforts of the current season; my true loves. Let’s chat about moving to Scotland with Pippin Prints.
Moving to Scotland with Pippin Prints
As the seasons shift and the light afternoons turn to dark evenings, I’ve experienced a big change in my personal life too. This month my family and I have been moving to Scotland. It’s where I am from, where I spent the first 26 years of my life and, since having my daughter, the place I’ve very much wanted to return to. After many months of consideration and planning, we’re here. Sort of.
Many aspects of the move are still up in the air. We haven’t yet managed to sell our house in Liverpool and we’ll living with my parents for at least the next few months. A lot for them to handle but full of joy as it means our daughter has more willing participants for games. The girl has a good imagination and you are expected to put in a full effort!
With this change comes a lot of opportunity. I now have a full work day each week, which allows me a lot more focus than the evenings and weekends that I was using previously. I’m also closer to the shops which stock my products allowing me to build stronger connections with them as well. There’s even a new stockist on the horizon, Stirling locals watch this space!
It has been a chaotic few weeks, I can’t lie. Making sure the little one is settled and ready for her new chapter in nursery has been a lot more to handle than I realised it would be, but there is a calm sea ahead and I’m really looking forward to feeling fully nestled into our new life.
In the Studio
Whilst we stay with Mum and Dad my studio is currently a desk in the corner of our bedroom. The space might already be a riot with all my things (sorry Mum) but thanks to the extra time I’ve got, projects have been flowing nicely.
This week I completed a new Christmas card to add to the range, just in time for shopping season. Who else has promised themselves once again that they’ll get organised in November? Some have you may have spotted a small collection of new prints I was testing earlier in the month too. As my work predominantly features flowers I began looking into the symbolism behind them and discovered some really beautiful meanings. I’ll have the first few ready soon, but here’s a sneak peak.
They could make a beautiful gift so I’ll make sure to have them ready and with a gift wrap option in plenty time for Christmas deliveries.
My hope is that one month from now I can report back that we’ve agreed a sale on our home, found somewhere new to live that ticks all the boxes and that we’re heading into a calm festive season, but we just never know do we?
