Happy Sunday and welcome to this month’s catch up blog post. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the art I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also likely share some of the little joys of life from home and the comforts of the current season; my true loves. Let’s chat about welcoming autumn in September with Pippin Prints.

Welcoming Autumn in September with Pippin Prints

If we’ve ever spoken you’ll likely know of my love for being cosy and comfortable. I thrive in the colder months and treasure the ability to set up my space in a way that allows me to feel absolute calm.

Every time I find some time for work I pour a cup of tea, light a candle, spend a moment filling in my journal and then set up all of my materials ready for painting. It’s a simple process, but it always helps me to get into the right headspace and focus.

This month, those moments spent in my studio have seen the arrival of autumn. I’ve been inspired by the falling leaves, famously autumnal oak trees and of course the brambles which seem to be a bit of an obsession of mine. If you’ve seen any of my videos you’ll know, even my mug is covered in them!

 

 

New Paintings and Projects in September

This autumnal inspiration has led me to paint two new pieces. They’re my most detailed yet and I feel like I’ve found my painting style with these more than any other.

I have titled the paintings “Brambles” and “Acorns”. Simple, yet so nostalgic. How many times did you walk along a path or through the woods when you were little and delight in finding an acorn by your feet or some ripe berries nestled in amongst the thorny amber shrubs? I told you didn’t I, it’s the little things that make me happy.

Finishing them just in time for the end of the month I have decided to create a collection from my autumnal paintings. The original artwork and A4 prints are available as always. In addition, I’ve also added some mini prints and bookmarks using the designs.

This creates a full range of items that offer both a variety in size and also price, hopefully making them accessible to most of you who might choose to add something to your collection. I’m really pleased with the quality and to have it together right on time for the new season beginning makes me really happy.

 

 

A Little Life Update

The summer months always feel a little chaotic to me and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I spend the days hot and flustered and overwhelmed with plans. Once September hits everything starts to slow a little, it’s far more my pace.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the calm that painting brings me at this time of year too. The second I pick up a paint brush and start to create my brain just switches to silence and peace. Motherhood is hard right now, with all the rollercoasters of emotions and challenges that the toddler years bring, and whilst I love so much of it I really savour the opportunity to step away and breathe.

 

 

We’ve got some plans in the works over the coming weeks, all of which I can update you on fully in next month’s post. The short version is that I’ll be relocating, to Scotland. A house move maybe doesn’t say “calm” to you but, all going well, that’s exactly what it will bring. Keep everything crossed for me that it’s a smooth process.
