Welcoming Autumn with Pippin Prints
Happy Tuesday and welcome to the latest catch up blog post with Pippin Prints. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the nature inspired art that I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also likely share some of the little joys of life from the outdoors, home and the comforts of the current season. In September I’ve been welcoming autumn with Pippin Prints.
Welcoming Autumn with Pippin Prints
Those who know me well know that of all the seasons, autumn is by far my favourite. I embrace each part of the year and love every seasonal change, but as the trees all turn to red and gold, the days get a little crisper and soups and stews start to feel like the perfect dinner option, my heart just warms. I mean, is there anything better than homemade bowl of soup with warm buttery bread followed by hot crumble and custard by the fire? I think not.
With the change in the weather comes a change to our natural environment of course. The bright summer colours have all but faded away now and those long days spent outside in the warm sunshine are behind us. In their place are branches of nuts and seeds full of warm shades of brown, ready to feed wild animals as they prepare to hibernate through the cold weather. Those branches are some of my favourite to paint, with my bramble and acorn paintings from last year still amongst my most loved.
In the Studio
I have been celebrating the arrival of my favourite season both at home and in the studio. Stepping out of summer and into the autumn months has given me the nudge I needed to organise my new product collections. As I continue to update my website I have been able to curate easy to shop seasonal pages. You can find the autumn page here.
Reminiscent of the corn fields and scarecrows of the spooky season, my sunflower painted this month has received a very positive response already with a number of shops across Scotland choosing to stock the prints, cards and bookmarks. I also have a brand new design which has been receiving a lot of love, due to be released in the coming week. There are even new cards with florals which you have seen before, including my favourite acorns and brambles.
Together they create a collection with a warm autumnal palette. The prints in particular sit well together and would give any corner of your home a cosy feel, perfect for this time of yearc!
Little Joys of Every Day Life
I spoke last month of the joy I found in picking blackberries with my family and making a crumble with them for the first time this year. Well we were lucky to get a second harvest at the beginning of September which topped a beautiful cake my husband made. It made the perfect pudding for a day spent with friends.
Food continues to bring me joy as the slow cooker is now making an appearance every week and some sort of stew paired with warm crusty bread becomes a staple in our house. The sun caps have been swapped out for woolly hats and our woodland walks now take twice as long as we have to crunch through every pile of leaves. It is compulsory, I don’t make the rules. Complete the walk with hot chocolates and I’m as happy as can be.
I’ve even found some time to do more reading over the last few weeks. My daughter and I took a walk to the local library on the hunt for some good reads and also some conkers on the way. We didn’t find any conkers but spotted a few acorns and had some great success with the books. Given the season I started with Harry Potter, a classic and cosy read. Little one opted for Old Bear. A favourite of mine from when I was her age and so nostalgic to read.
