Happy Tuesday and welcome to this month’s catch up blog post. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the art I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also likely share some of the little joys of life from nature, home and the comforts of the current season. In April I have been expanding into the exciting world of selling wholesale with Pippin Prints.
Selling Wholesale with Pippin Prints
For the last few years I have focused Pippin Prints predominantly on small scale orders through my website and at fairs. With the exception of one small shop local to me who stock my cards, all of my customers have been individual shoppers. I feel very grateful for each and every one.
Of course, it’s also important for me to look to the future of my business and how I might grow.
Whilst many people love to shop online with small businesses it’s very much a reality that we often don’t have time in our day to do this. More likely, we will spot something by chance in the local deli or when out exploring a National Trust property and make a spontaneous purchase.
My hope is that one day soon you’ll be browsing your local garden centre and spot my products sitting happy in the home and gift section. If you do ever spot them, make sure to tell me!
In the Studio
To prepare for my growth into selling wholesale, much of my time in the studio has been spent organising my stock, preparing packaging and creating a catalogue of my products. Shops may wish to order tens, if not hundreds of items at a time and I need to be ready to fulfil this as though working from a professional warehouse with a team of ten around me.
This time last year I had one small box of cards, prints and bookmarks sitting in the corner of my office. With a few envelopes in a drawer, I would process orders as and when they came in. What a difference now to be putting together an entire collection of stock. This is such an exciting leap for me to take with my business!
Little Joys of Every Day Life
Between my work days and the days spent parenting my little ball of energy, I’ve been spending a lot more time out doors. Often with my daughters help, she loves to help dig and look for worms as any three year old does!
We sewed some carrot seeds just after Easter and they’ve sprouted really well, so our first goal has been to create to a spot outside for them to grow. A handful of afternoons of digging and building later and we’ve got ourselves a new border and a nice little raised bed to work with.
In our last house we managed to grow a handful of fruits and veg so it brings me so much joy to be starting again in Scotland. We’ve got a little bit more space here too so hopefully that means a few extra crumbles and soups…if the bounty doesn’t get eaten before it reaches the kitchen that is.
Looking forward to speaking to you again at the end of May when we’ll be switching out boots for sandals and eating meals outside daily…right mother nature?
