Time for a Change with Pippin Prints

Happy Friday and welcome to this month’s catch up blog post. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the art I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also likely share some of the little joys of life from nature, home and the comforts of the current season. In March it has been time for a change with Pippin Prints.

Time for a Change with Pippin Prints

With the change of the seasons comes a few other changes for me in March.

New paints, new sketching pencils, oh…and a new house.

I’ve been speaking about our move to Scotland for many months now, but this past week we’ve actually done it. In the middle of the month we picked up the keys and got to work on making it feel like home. We cleaned the place top to bottom. I got myself covered in paint daily as we made a start on switching up the decor. Most importantly, we managed to pull our daughters room together complete with teddies and books so that she can hopefully settle there quickly.

I’m exhausted, but even in its unfinished state the house is already feeling so much more like ours.

Give me six more months, a few planning applications (the danger of the architect and engineer team in my husband and I) and lots more paint and it will be perfect.

In the Studio

Whilst my actual studio space is a bit of the temporary fix at the moment, work continues. Picture a table in the corner of a chaotic room with the bare minimum of paints and paper to get me by. Of course I’m still surrounded by boxes which I will probably avoid for several more weeks because unpacking is not my favourite thing.

Knowing me, I will have my stationery organised before the towels. C’est la vie.

None the less, I have had the opportunity this month to try out some new paints and sketching pencils and I love the result. I’m able to achieve and stronger sketch line with the softer pencils which gives a lovely element of life to my work even before I’ve added any colour.

My paints then have so much more depth of colour to them allowing me to create a much wider palette to work with and adding yet more life to the paintings.

As I get settled and organise my set up a little more I’ll be sharing much more with you. Perhaps even a collection or two of originals. I’ll make sure to let you know on socials, but you can also sign up to my newsletter to stay informed if you’d like to.

Little Joys of Every Day Life

With a new home comes lots of to do lists and plans. I adore house interiors and setting up a space in just the right way, so I’m thriving at the moment. An entire house needs arranged and set up and made to feel like our space. Thankfully we love to collect books and memories, so it won’t take me long to fill the rooms with our character.

Something small that really does bring me a lot of joy in life is a good dining set up. There are few things better to me than sitting together in the morning for a good breakfast or having family over for a roast dinner. This past Sunday was Easter and some of our family gathered together to eat a big lunch and enjoy some time together.

We were so lucky to have an incredibly sunny day. Most of it was spent outside playing with the little one and as we prepared to sit down to eat she came dancing into the house clutching a big bunch of daffodils. Of course they had to take centre stage on the table.

As I knew would be the case, we were surrounded by unpacked boxes still, but the table looked fun and I even had some fresh flowers. Happy days!

Looking forward to speaking to you again at the end of April when the sunshine should be gracing us far more often and Spring will well and truly be here.

Emma x
