A New Year in Bloom with Pippin Prints
Happy Friday and welcome to the latest catch up blog post with Pippin Prints. A moment for me to reflect on the most recent chapter in our year, the nature inspired art that I’ve been creating in my studio and the progress I’ve made on current projects. I’ll also share some of the little joys of life from the outdoors, home and the comforts of the current season. We have reached January once more and it is time to celebrate a new year in bloom with Pippin Prints.
A New Year in Bloom with Pippin Prints
Whilst the rain is falling as I sit and type my monthly update to you, in Scotland we welcomed 2025 with a fresh and sunny early January. It was bitterly cold, but so beautiful to step outside wrapped in layers and take a deep breath in.
I’m grateful to say that I’m feeling positive and excited for the year ahead. I don’t have any big resolutions as such. Just some small ideals instead, like being outside more often, focused on simple home activities like baking and growing our own cut flowers with my little one.
Simplicity is particularly important to me as we will be a little distracted in a few months time. We have our second baby on the way! Remembering the chaos and complete change in pace when my daughter was born four years ago, I understand the need to slow down now both for my own recovery and to allow us all to adjust as a family.
Honestly I just feel very excited and grateful to look ahead to spring as we become a team of four.
In the Studio
After a few months away from painting I have been busy in the studio once more and nature continues to be my inspiration. Our garden has a huge magnolia bush which is currently full of buds, reminding us that spring is just round the corner.
I painted the flowers in full bloom last year so wanted to capture the buds this month before they begin to blossom. The colours are just as beautiful, with the silver buds and burgundy stems bringing life to an otherwise quiet garden.
I’m not yet sure what to do with the painting as I don’t think it’s necessary to turn every piece into print. Often it is nice to simply create something new whilst the majority of my working hours are spent on less glamorous elements of my business such as marketing and website management. I may set up a listing for the original work though, in case there is anyone that really loves it.
Little Joys of Every Day Life
As I mentioned, being outdoors is a big focus for this year. Made easy with all of the sunshine we’ve been lucky to have in Scotland we have created a number of happy little moments outside as a family.
Building a fire in our small stove on the patio and making hot chocolate has to be one of my favourites. Sitting by a crackling fire as everything around you is coated in frost is unbelievably relaxing. The birds flew around us as we sipped our drinks and the calm was just lovely. It helped us to use up some of the leftover Christmas chocolate too which was a little bonus.
We have had a little hiccup at the end of the month unfortunately. The largest tree to the back of garden, captured in many of my photos and stories on socials, came down in the storm last Friday. A scary moment and it has done a fair bit of damage, but I’m grateful to say that we are all safe. It has forced us to reimagine our outdoor time for the moment as the garden is not currently safe.
This too shall pass though and I know we’ll be back outside enjoy our favourite space very soon.
We are lucky to have plans throughout the month of February so I imagine there will be a good bit of catching up to do in my next post. See you there!
